A few weeks ago I wrote an article on the hardest English words in terms of pronunciation. Don’t get me wrong, I am very enthusiastic about English and I love the language very much. After all, it is my field of study and I would never devote so much of my time to something I do not like. Sometimes though we do tease our beloved about their peculiarities. And don’t tell me you don’t, I know you do! Also, working on a dictionary, no matter how interesting it is, gets sometimes a little weird, especially when you have to translate strange things you never knew that existed. Anyway, I have decided to share with you some of the words I came across and involuntarily learned in the past few months. I can’t wait to use these words in a conversation to see the reactions of other people, preferably native speakers!

In the past people used technology as a tool for making survival an easier endeavor. Nowadays we are witnessing a shift in the role technology is playing in our society and may continue to play for generations to come. In the modern-day world technology is no longer a tool for survival but it turned to a means of communication and entertainment. Mass communication technology has made it easier than ever to connect with people. In the same time this raises the concern of whatever technology has a good or bad influence on our society, is the use of technology destroying face-to-face interaction and communication between people?

Nowadays a lot of people started looking for jobs in a foreign country.
This could happen after the crisis which have struck us in the last years, but how can it be possible that what happened to our grand-parents is happening to us after more than 50 years, with almost the same aspect and phenomenon?
The answer is easy: in other countries possibilities are better and you have a lower amount to pay.

I’m an Italian girl that is participating in a European project in Seville, Spain. I arrived a month ago and have enrolled in an intensive Spanish course, since I have never studied the language before. The school where I study, the Linc Spanish School, is very good. The professor is always prepared and there are only a few students in our group, which allows us to learn better and faster. I have also had the opportunity to meet new people, thanks to the school’s extracurricular activities.
