Molti articoli sono stati scritti su come imparare lingue e ognuno di noi ha una sua strategia: c‘è chi consuma i libri e studia ogni regola fissandosela per sempre nella testa; c’è chi ascolta e segue corsi…Oggi voglio provare a illustrarvi il mio metodo, che mi ha permesso di acquisire, non una, ma due lingue in sei mesi. Impossibile? Bhè, direi di no.

A lot of articles have been written about how to learn languages and each one of us has his own strategy: who is using books and studying hard every grammatical rule memorizing it; who listens and takes some classes…Today I would try to show you my method, which allowed me to attempt, not one, but two languages in six months. Impossible? Well, no.

It has been a little more that two weeks since I left Germany and moved back to Oslo. I still can’t believe that I am not going back to bab.la. I thought it would be simple and relaxing to move “back home”. But after living in Hamburg for more then a year I am, unbelievably enough, experiencing language immersion in my mother tongue, Norwegian! The first days I kept saying words in German and often I couldn’t seem to come up with the Norwegian one at all. My mind was playing serious tricks on me. I guess I should be grateful I learned German so well that my mind kept functioning in my new language. The question is what to do when this stops happening? Because as time passes, Norwegian becomes my “first language” again! How am I supposed to maintain my German skills now?

I když se to nezdá, počítače a internet nás spojují. Můžeme spolu mluvit, vytvářet komunity a virtuální společenství lidí, kteří mají podobné zájmy. Máme profily na sociálních sítích, píšeme blogy, sdílíme fotky našich domácích mazlíčků, dětí a obrázky z dovolené, tvoříme další stránky. Nevím jak vy, ale já mám pořád pocit, že internet a počítače jsou jen pro mladé (a technicky zdatné). Opak je, lépe řečeno přestává být pravdou. V souvislosti s tímto vznikají i stránky a portály speciálně určené pro starší generaci.

Ez így is van, de sajnos önmagában édeskevés. Ha már nem vagy tinédzser, akkor az agyad sem olyan már, mint a szivacs, ami mindent automatikusan magába szív. Attól még, hogy körülvesz a nyelv, rengeteg energiát kell belefektetned a tanulásba.

There are billions of articles out there about the best ways to learn a language, the vast majority of them agreeing that sooner of later you will have to go to a country where the language is spoken in order to really master it. And while that is true, it is far from being enough! Unless you’re still a teenager, your mind is no longer like a ’sponge’ that will just instantaneously soak knowledge in. Just because you are surrounded by a language, doesn’t mean you don’t have to make an effort.
