The Czech Republic is well-known for its good beer, but I would like to introduce to you some yummy dishes as well.
If you are planning to go to Prague or anywhere else in the Czech Republic, at least one of these “bad boys” should be on your bucket list.
- Svíčková na smetaně – Beef sirloin with cream sauce, dumplings and cranberries
The is considered as a national dish and you can get it in almost every restaurant.
- Vepřo-knedlo-zelo – Roast pork with dumplings and sauerkraut

- Ovocné knedlíky – Fruit dumplings
Fruit dumpligs come with different fillings. You can choose from apricots, blueberries, plums or strawberries. They are usually served with melted butter, sugar and quark. You can also come across dumpligs made of potato dough. They are also filled with fruits, but they are a bit smaller than the “normal” ones.
- Bramboráky – Potato pancakes
The recipe is super easy and they taste just great. They are served with sour cream, roasted pork meat or with a mushroom/meat sauce.
- Buchtičky se šodó – Sweet dumplings with custard sauce
This dish is very popular among children and is also simple to make.
As you might have noticed, most of the dishes do come with any sort of dumplings. Yes, that is right! We simply love dumplings, of course, and the best ones are homemade by my granny 😉
