Of course you like beer. You don’t just like it, sometimes you think you’re the reason that the Oktoberfest was invented! The officially largest drinking spree (folk festival) in the world is just around the corner. People train for this day, because starting tomorrow on the Theresienwiese in Munich, for the next 16 days there will be celebrations and drinking until your arm can no longer hold the jug.
Six million (!) visitors from around the world are expected to attend the 182nd Wiesn (as they call it in Bavaria), there are a total of 29 party tents, there is beer exclusively from traditional Munich breweries and there are about 80 rides. After all, what could be better than to spin in a circle in high speed with 0.1 percent alcohol concentration in the blood and half a Brathendl in the stomach? For the tough ones, who can control themselves even during a somersault, there is the biggest transportable rollercoaster in the world. It has five loops and the fitting name Olympia Looping. Everyone else should just enjoy the view from the Willenborg Ferris wheel from a height of almost 50 meters.
Worthy of imitation
Since plagiarism is the highest form of flattery, celebrations and events similar to the Oktoberfest take place in many other cities around the world. A few examples are Qingdao (China), Kitchener (Canada), Blumenau (Brazil), Cincinnati (USA), or even Hannover (Germany!). So if you’re not in Germany right now (or if you live in the far north), no need to worry, you will be able to get beer somewhere.
To which Oktoberfest have you been? You haven‘t been? Then throw yourself into your dirndl / lederhosen and oans, zwoa, g’suffa!
