Kota Tua (Old City)
Kota Tua is an old neighborhood consisting of buildings from the Dutch colonialism era. It was an original part of old Batavia. Nowadays the buildings are mostly used as offices, bars and museum. Within the area there is the Fatahillah museum and also the Wayang Museum. There are also other historical sights surrounding the area such as Toko Merah and the Kota Intan Drawbridge.
Ragusa Italian Ice Cream
Ragusa Italian Ice Cream is the oldest ice cream shop in Jakarta. Fun fact: it is even older than the city itself! It was founded in the year 1932 by two Italian brothers, Luigi Ragusa and Vincenzo Ragusa. This ice cream shop is enjoyed by generations of people. My father brought me here for the first time when I was little and his father (my grandfather) brought him here as well.
Glodok is still a part of the Kota Tua (Old City) of Jakarta. It is the heart and centre of the Chinese community in Jakarta. It consists of intricate alleys that sell traditional Chinese attributes for celebration and also food stalls.
Pasar Baru has been around since the year 1820 and it is the oldest business district in Jakarta. You could find almost anything here from good food, books and even textiles. It could be said, that Pasar Baru is one of the most famous textile hubs in Jakarta.
