One day, Eight stops, One city: Explore Milan!

A small guide to enjoy the splendor of Milan in one day.


1 – Line 3, metro stop Duomo. Exit the tube and you will encounter the magnificence of the cathedral and its square. If you reach the top of the roof , among its spires you will have one of the best views over the entire city. The nearby Royal Palace is worth a quick round, the best exhibitions in the city take place here throughout the whole year.


2 – The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele is a symbol of luxury and fashion in Milan. Follow it and you will come to Piazza della Scala, one of the best theaters in the world. Tickets for the show can be surprisingly affordable.


3 – Take Via Verdi and magically you will be brought in the neighborhood of artists and designers: Brera. Let yourself be enchanted by the narrow streets, the shops and the art museum. After 9 p.m. the nightlife is here.


4 – Now head to the castle. The former residence of the Sforza’s family is a palace in the heart of the metropolis. Enjoy a break under the shade of trees at Sempione Park, the green lung of the city.


5 – Exit the park in the direction Cadorna and walk along via Carducci. The Basilica of St. Ambrose on the one side and Santa Maria delle Grazie one the other site will make you relive the Romanesque and the Renaissance a few hundred meters away from one another.


6 – Get on one of the most romantic and ancient trams in Europe until Piazza XXIV Maggio . They are not just a means of transport but an experience outside of time. One of these coaches has even become a restaurant


7 – Have a walk along the canals. There is no better way to end the day looking at the colors of the sun reflecting into the water.


8 – Go to Corso di Porta Ticinese and join the Milanese to the ritual of the aperitif. Small tip: Yguana bar, just behind the columns of San Lorenzo. Have a toast accompanied by good food and… see you next time. Milan has so much more to show you.
