When planning a visit to Sweden, Stockholm is usually the place people want to visit, and of course the capital city is incredibly beautiful and well worth a visit. However Sweden is so much more than just Stockholm – there are many cool and beautiful places to visit!
Here is a list of four places in Sweden that are well worth a visit:
This port city is Sweden’s second largest city and has everything from impressive shopping and beautiful scenery to Scandinavia’s largest amusement park. If you come here in the summer so it is a must to visit the archipelago and all the islands. However, if you are planning on traveling here in the winter you should pay a visit to the picturesque Christmas market inside the Liseberg amusement park.
- Icehotel Jukkasjärvi
If you are looking for hotel stay out of the ordinary, a visit to the Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi is a must! The entire hotel is built entirely of snow and ice, and even though even the bed is made of ice you keep yourself warm with animal throws. Every December a new hotel is built and it stays open until it melts in April. While here you can check out the impressive art made of ice and if you are lucky enough you may even see the Northern Lights.
Sweden’s third largest city is a melting pot for different cultures and the city is perceived to be very international, and because of the proximity to Copenhagen and Europe the city is easily accessible. Due to Malmö’s long and beautiful beaches and lively nightlife, the city is best to visit in summer when the temperature allows spending all day on the beach and dancing all night. “Möllan” is also worth a visit as it is one of Malmö’s most colourful and vibrant neighbourhoods.
Gotland is Sweden’s largest island and is located in the Baltic Sea. The days are best spent on Tofta beach or limestone quarries along the sea where you can enjoy the summer sun. In the evenings, the island’s main town of Visby is the place to be – here you can find everything from cultural and historical points of interest to quaint restaurants and after-beach clubs that are open all night.
