  1. Great thing and I love reading blogs. I just sometimes wish I had more time… also to update mine 🙂 But I am trying and I always find it very helpful to read about other peoples experiences!!!

  2. Hello, my name is Angelina and this is my story. I came to stay in Buenos Aires for 6 months from Sept 2009- March 2010. My first trip here was to teach english and my desire was to go deep into the Argentine culture, a venture that few had taken. Season 1 was my adventures as a young writer in the big city. But little did I know that there would be a 2nd trip. While I was here on my first trip, the church I was attending needed someone to teach english to them, creating the need for my 2nd trip.

After writing about my adventures from season 1, my blogsite exploded with people who not only wanted to read about my adventures from season 1 but wanted to follow me onto season 2. Season 2 (which began in October when my 2nd trip began) is a deeper exploration of the Argentine culture. Not only that, I mature as a writer in my understanding of the city.

I wanna nominate this blog because I believe it to be unique. I am the first writer to write and capture on video and write about many other things on video and intergrated them into my blogsite than are out of the norm and something only someone who is well versed in the Argentine culture would know. I go beyond what any normal travel blog site and take my readers behind the scenes. I believe that my blog does the Argentine culture justice and I have been able to bring the culture alive through photos, videos, as well as my skills as a writer. I am nominating my blog because I believe that the Argentine culture is a beautiful thing and I want the world to know about this amazing country that so many people bypass…..

  4. Hey all together 🙂
2009 – 2010 I spend a year in China with AFS! It was one of the most memoriable, exciting, greatest, strangest, wonderful, awesome, inspiring, life changing (and not only easy) experience in my life so far.
My first country-choice was China… and the feeling when I got a hostfamily there was unbelievable.
I couldn’t imagine a life in Asia, I just knew I wanted to do it. What I got, was so much more than I expected.
A trip back is already planned. One part of my heart is still back there, with my hostfamily, my classmates, my school, my friends in China and all the other exchange students who have been there with me and I got to know so well. I can’t live without this memories anymore…. If someone wants to accept me, he has to accept the fact that I have a second life on the other side of the world 🙂 thanks to AFS!
Because of all this breath-taking experiences and moments I wrote a blog, from the first second on.
Unfortunatly everything is in german, but there are also many pictures and they can speak for theirselves.
So I want to nominate my blog:
I would be glad to get some votes.
    Have a nice day.

  6. You are 16,you are adventurous, you know there is more than black and white.
Thats me,one year ago on my way to the other side of the world : Brazil

I always had this traveler blood in me,when I close my eyes I have colorful memories of roadtrips though Europe and America, stories my mom told me of the wide world that is lying beneath everyone’s feet

But stories aren’t enough, you have to feel Brazil to know how beautiful it is.Most of the stories are handed from ones to others and so Brazil overwelmed me because it was so different,”was” because since I am living here for one year now.
I am Brazilian , at least a part of me

My blog is almost only photos, one year the lens were my eyes and films my memories
to keep this expierence forever with me
(on the archives you can find my entire year 😀 )

I nominate my blog because its full of the love I recieved one year long in this beautiful country

I try to show a different side of this region, espacially in comparing intercultural differences or communalities between Germany and the Kaukasus countries. Unfortunately my blog is written in german, but I think the pictures I made are also very interesting to see. So have fun while reading oder watching 😉

  12. Hello!
My name is Malou and I am currently in the United States (Minnesota). I am 17 years old and I love to travel, I have a blog (it is in Dutch) because I am from the Netherlands originally. I talk about my high school experience, host family, fun activities what I did here like going to the Mall of America (10 minutes away from me, yes!!), going Icefishing, going camping, winterformal, prom, graduation and it is a lot of fun and definitively a once- in- a- life- time experience. I love it!

Thank you, I also love to read other interesting cultural stories.

  13. Hello,

We’re a French family living in Romania since July. We’ve got 4 chidren (10, 14, 17, 18) and that’s a great experience to discover this country. First I just intended to let our friends and family know more about our new life. But after a few weeks here I decided my blog should help anyone to discover our host country.
We called our blog ” L’Aventure roumaine” :

It’s really worth letting people discover Romania through our experience. I try to have a pleasant style, to present photos, to talk about things we notice here every day, details. My blog is written in French , and I don’t have enough time to translate it ; I’m looking for including a traductor to allow readers to choose their language. I answer in English or German to people sending me mails or comments in those languages.
    See you soon !

  14. More than 200 blogs have been already nominated to the IX11 blog competition! Nominations are still open until Sunday!
