Finnish candy is the best candy in the world. Yes, I am Finnish. No, I’m not biased! Come on, there’s scientific proof: after a weekend trip to Finland I decided to bring some Finnish chocolate for my co-workers. They mysteriously disappeared in the blink of an eye, which undoubtedly proves my theory.
Finnish candy is actually one of the things that I miss the most about Finland. The quality and variety are simply unrivalled. And because it’s Friday, and the weekend with all its binge-eating and self-loathing is upon us, I decided to embrace it and present to you the very best of Finnish candy and chocolate. Enjoy!

This is the Holy Grail of Finnish chocolate. This is as strongly linked to Finnish identity as rolling naked in the snow after a trip to the sauna. What is it? Plain milk chocolate. Not too sweet, not too bitter. It’s just right. And you need it in your life.
My personal favourite. It comes in two versions, milk chocolate and dark chocolate, and they both contain a heavenly hazelnut crème that will make you reach for another one, and another one, and… oh, you just finished a whole box by yourself. Again.
These strange little black thingies are pieces of salty liquorice. They will numb your tongue and get stuck in your teeth but you will love them nonetheless. Oh, and they also come in a bottle – as a kind of vodka, of course (it doesn’t get much more Finnish than that).
Salmiakki on steroids. It’s a mix of salty liquorice and pepper and it’s not for the faint-hearted. You can also crush them and make your own Salmiakki-vodka. DIY-projects at their best!
Imagine a heavenly place filled with all your favourite candy, where you can pick and mix as much as you want and can carry, to make your very own, perfectly customized little HUGE bag of candy. Where is this wonderful, magical place, you ask? In Finland, they’re actually everywhere. So just grab a bag, pick what you want and pay by the weight of your bag. I won’t tell anyone how heavy it was, I promise.
I think that’s enough sweets for today, folks. Is it just me or do your clothes also feel a little tighter after reading this?
Anyway, have a good weekend, y’all!
