This is an amazing occasion: If you get to this point, you came as low as you will ever go – and I mean literally, the half of your trip is in the most southern habitable place in the world! After Patagonia there is only ice and more ice!
So, after an amazing experience with the natural beauties of Bolivia, the incredible ruins and urban landscapes of Peru, the walk in the middle of the world in Ecuador and the beaches and exciting activities going on in Colombia, we are ready to jump into another country – Chile, this time!
This is the sixth place in South America you will never forget. So far you’ve been to, roughly, three countries – Colombia, Ecuador, Peru – and at least five cities – Santa Marta, Medellín, Quito, Lima and Cusco. And it’s a great thing that this is a trip and not a competition for the most incredible landscape of this region of the American continent – otherwise things at this point would get fierce!
For as short as 5 days may seem when you are on a trip, this is the mark that one third of your trip to South America in 15 days is almost over. So far you’ve been to the paradise beaches of Santa Marta, the amazing historical sites of Medellín, some very exciting activities in Ecuador and the capital of Peru – Lima – for some food tasting and sightseeing. Now it is time to get to know Cusco, a city with way more than just Inca ruins (as if they weren’t enough!).
The trip to Lima from your last stop in Ecuador is a long one, so make sure you have enough rest and are fresh to start a new day in another amazing country. Peru has amazing natural, historical and urban landscapes to offer and you won’t probably make it to see everything is to see in only one day, so as we split Colombia’s trip in two days (so you could enjoy both north and south), Peru’s guide will be split in two days, so you have more time to enjoy it!
After tanning at the beaches of Santa Marta and getting yourself cured from the hangover of the Colombian aguardiente in Medellín, pack your bags and travel south as we are going to Ecuador, the Middle of the Earth!
After enjoying an amazing times in the Caribbean coast of Santa Marta, The next stop is more down to the south of the country – more precisely in the city of Medellín or, as the Colombians like to call it, “the city of eternal spring”.
